Would you pay $966.99 for a 500GB Western Digital SATA HDD in 2010?
I just saw this on Amazon.com - a Western Digital 500GB SATA HDD selling for $966.99. Note that the ORIGINAL price was $18,545.00. This is such a good deal as the "on sale" price is "only" $966.99. That's a 95% discount.
Thanks to the Internet, the SAME item is sold for $54.99 at Newegg. That's right, only 5.7% of Amazon's price.
I saw many Blog postings today that talked about the advances of technologies in the last 10 years, in comparison to the year 2000. Perhaps the price of $966.99 at Amazon.com was set in the Year 2000 (although SATA technology did not exist at that time), when a 20GB HDD was considered as "huge".
It is 2010. Thanks, but no thanks, Amazon.
