I luckly had 20GB extra partition in my desktop, so I installed Vista on top of my XP Home Edition. It worked out fine, and it seems like Vista will treat XP as "Older Generation Windows" in it's Bootloader menu...Ah, the yonger generation has no respect. =)
Well, it's stable. That's the 1st thing I noticed. My computer has not crashed, which surprised me considering that this OS is made by Microsoft. =)
The 2nd thing I noticed is that Vista is quite "backwork-compatibility friendly". That means my PC Peripherals worked just fine under Vista as they would under XP. I installed the XP drivers for my web cam, sound card and WLAN USB adapter. Vista was not as "picky" as I expected, and it took all the drives prepared for XP without any complain, so I'm up and running in no time!
The 3rd thing I liked about this release is that Microsoft apparently gave a face-lift to it after they released Vista Beta 2. The user interface and the overall setup has been improved greatly. I installed a previous version of Windows Vista in November'05, and the screen shots can be found here. If one makes a comparison of the desktop captures (below), it is clearly seen that the "Start" button has been changed to a Windows' Logo. Of course, there are many other changes made and I won't mention them here. The point is that this interface is getting better, and I like it very much.
Windows Side Show is convinient as Google's Desktop Search (ahen, ahen, ahen...I didn't say who's copying whom =), and it's actually quite useful in my opinion.
Anyways, I definitely look forward to getting my hands on one of the early releases when Vista officially come out in November'06. But I think I will need a new desktop system since my current H/W is definitely far from "Vista Ready"...
