BlackBerry Thunder - the iPhone 3G competitor

According to BlackBerry Sync, RIM will release BlackBerry Thunder (9500) in October as an iPhone 3G rival.  It will feature a 480x320 touch-screen, 3.2M camera, and a MicroSD slot.  The spec looks pretty good, and the picture looks slick!

I think the user experience would also depend on how well RIM builds to firmware/OS to support the touch screen.  Looking forward to playing with it!

Los Angles Earthquake

A magnitude of 5.4 earthquake shaked Los Angles yesterday.

I was sitting my ass in a conference room in my employer's San Diego office (2nd floor).  The floor was shaken, but people in the room initially thought it was roof-maintenance.

Not sure if this is a ripple effect from the SiChuan earthquake in May'08.  Scary!!

The conclusion of the subject title is - AT&T sucks.

After spending 20min useless time with an AT&T's customer service, I'd say I'm pretty unimpressed about the knowledge that person had.

As much as I like my BlackBerry Curve, I just cannot get Google Talk working on my phone.  RIM just released Windows Live Messenger support today.  I installed, and I got the same message as if I attempt to sign in Google Talk: "Service not enabled for this handheld".

Anyways, the customer service from AT&T danced around and gave me a million reasons why I needed to talk to Google and Microsoft for technical support.  Sometimes I wonder if these companies designed their customer service with the assumption that all customers are retarded.  While the Verizone and T-Mobile Curve users IM their friends on their handheld, then AT&T customers are stuck with a service-not-enabled device.  The person I talked to even send me an email to prove his ground, and the knowledge base article reads like this:

新护照

工作上常去国外, 出差多了, 护照换得也勤. 刚刚收到第三本护照. 这次为了能够撑久一点, 还特意要求用了加厚版的, 一共48页.

我索性数了一下旧护照(第二本)里所有的海关章印, 一共71个. 最后一次是入境, 所以总数是单数. 细节如下:

美国: 17
台湾: 26
日本: 6
中国大陆: 12
香港: 6
南韩: 2
新加坡: 2

另外还要加上两个一年内多次往返的大陆签证, 也难怪24页很快就用完了. 这些当然还不算在北美出差的记录.

奔波在外很辛苦, 也很有趣. 每过几个月都会有种想念San Francisco机场登记口的感觉. 8月底或9月初还要再去台湾一次. 什么时候能去欧洲走一遭就爽了.

香港九龙红勘黄埔花园

去了香港若干次了, 从来没听说有这么个独到的建筑. 造了艘大船停在市中心当商场, 倒是蛮有意思的.

GOOGLE了一下, 才发现这个商场叫九龙红勘黄埔花园, 英文是Whampoa. 下次去香港红勘得拜访一下.

The Dark Knight - 好电影

Dark Knight 终于出来了. 今天一早7:30起来和LP开车去三藩市的METREON开iMax版, 真的很过瘾! 开到后才8:30过一点, 电影院10点才开门, 竟然门口已经排了长队, 多亏我们有提前早往上买好票.

今年好电影真的很多, 但Dark Knight绝对是必看的一部. 强烈推荐!!

My Gmail was not accessible for the last 15min. while I was trying to post a blog.  Scary!  This is the very first time that I experience a server issue with Gmail.

It's kind of annoying.  I thought Gmail was reliable, but I guess nothing is perfect...

全文如下:

今天上午，奥运圣火来到了吉林省省会长春市。上午8时，在市体育中心南门广场，第一棒火炬手、长春市光机所研究员、中科院院士王家骐从省委书记王珉手中接过火炬，开始了奥运圣火在长春市的传递之旅。

    长春市地处东北松辽平原腹地，地势平坦开阔，因具有"冬日无干冷，夏日无酷热"的气候特点 被誉为"北国春城"。是全国重要的玉米、大豆生产基地和全国少有的知识密集区之一。是吉林省政治、经济、文化和交通中心。她就像一块美丽晶莹的宝石，镶嵌 在富饶的松辽平原上。

    今日的长春，彩旗飘扬，热闹非凡。激情满怀的长春市民犹如欢庆盛大节日一样迎接着祥云火炬的到来，传递路线两旁挤满了热情洋溢的观众，他们穿着奥运文化衫，挥舞着国旗，"中国加油！"、"奥运加油！"的口号响彻云霄。

    在武警吉林省总队官兵全程安全保障下，火炬从市体育中心南门广场开始传递，经自由 大路、人民大街至长春世界雕塑公园结束。全程9公里，共有218名火炬手参与传递。通过激情传递，火炬手们向世人展示了长春"汽车城"、"森林城"、"电 影城"和"科技文化城"的风采。

    在世界雕塑公园喷泉广场，随着最后一棒火炬手、女子短道速滑运动员、冬奥会银牌获得者王春露点燃了圣火盆，结束了火炬在长春的传递活动。王春露兴奋地对记者说："能够参加这次火炬传递，是我一生的荣耀。祝愿北京奥运会取得圆满成功。"

    据悉，祥云火炬传递行程以长春为中心向西北和东南两个方向延伸，犹如一只报喜的鸿雁，翩翩飞过白山黑水之间。15日和16日，火炬将在吉林省的另外三个城市――松原、吉林和延吉传递。

iPhone 3G Have Yellow-Tinted Screens?

AppleInsider says some iPhone 3G users complained their new shiny 3G phone had a yellow-tinted color compared with the 1st generation iPhone.

I didn't care much about the color, but I noticed the 3G iPhone connected to as many as "724wireless" Wi-Fi site.  That's a lot channels identified!
